Zentangle is a method of creating beautiful images from structured patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing, increases focus and creativity, and provides an increased sense of personal well - being.

Anyone can create a Zentangle. Even if you have never drawn a line, you can pick up the pen and make a beautiful piece the very first time. People who are sure they are not “creative, artistic, or talented” are always delighted and surprised to see what they can create.

During the workshop, participants learn the philosophy behind the Zentangle® method, take the first steps in creating art and learn 8 structured patterns called "tangles" to complete two Zentangle "tiles." Beginner shading techniques are practiced to make the Zentangle tile come alive or “pop”.

Supplies:

Sakura Pigma Micron pen, Black .01, .03 and .05,

4B pencils

Blending stump

And either

Strathmore Artist Tiles - Bristol, vellum surface - 20 tiles, 6in. x 6 in. and Strathmore Artist Tiles - Sketch, fine tooth surface - 70 tiles, 6 x 6 in.

Zentangle is a method of creating beautiful images from structured patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing, increases focus and creativity, and provides an increased sense of personal well-being.

In this workshop you will create layers of wonderful color on beautiful textured paper. This technique can be used in large format as framed art, in smaller pieces as greeting cards or even smaller as ATC or collage. Let your intuition be your guided muse!

Non-Artists are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Supplies :

Strathmore Mixed Media Greeting Cards or Arches cold press or hot press watercolor paper

India Ink, Black

Assorted watercolor paints and/or watercolor pencils such as Koi Watercolor Pocket Field Sketch Box and Inktense Watercolor pencils.

Uni-Signo white pen

Sakura Glaze pen, Black

Sakura Glaze pen, Clear

Sakura Pigma Micron pen .01, .05 Black

Prismacolor Premier Cool Gray PB-110 30%

The word illumination comes from the Latin word illuminare which means "to lighten up" or "enlighten". Participants will use the Zentangle method to illuminate and embellish an initial with tangle patterns and metallic watercolors. Zentangle is a method of creating beautiful images from structured patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing, increases focus and creativity, and provides an increased sense of personal well-being.

Non-Artists are welcome and encouraged to participate!

Sakura Glaze Pens, Black

Uni-Signo white pen

Prismacolor Premier Cool Gray PB-110 30%

Metallic paints or inks – this could be watercolor, gouache or acrylic. Lumiere and FW Inks have a good range of colors. Matisse, Liquitex and Golden have a variety of golds, silvers and coppery colors. Winsor & Newton make a gold and silver gouache.

Watercolor paints of your choice - optional if you want more color

1 small fine point brush

1 AquaBrush, optional if you decide to add more color

Zentangle® 101 - The Basics with Sharon Lynn Payne, CZT

Gain a solid foundation in the Zentangle Method created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. During The Basics, you will learn 8 tangles and complete at two Zentangle tiles, while learning beginner shading techniques.

A mini-kit is included in your class fee so you can tangle at home!
