After extensive tests we chose these pens and paper as ideal components based on our criteria of longevity and an ideal combination of paper weight, surface texture and pen response to this paper. Using these pens and pencils on this paper is a joy.

Inside this Zentangle Kit you will find:
Tiles
Zentangle uses a mould-made, acid-free, 100% cotton, heavy-weight fine artists' paper with a beautiful vellum surface finish. This paper is designed for etching, engraving, woodcut and other fine art techniques such as Zentangle, and is usually reserved for special editions.
Each tile is custom die-cut, inspired by this fine paper's original deckle edges. Our idea to die-cut their edges arose when some early Zentangle prototypes accidentally went through the laundry. While those Zentangles came out in great shape, with their patterns not a bit faded, their edges were softened and their corners rounded. This so added to its beauty that we decided to die-cut our tiles from then on. Sized at 3-1/2 inches square, these tiles are designed to fit in pockets or in old floppy disk containers. The die-cut edges also fit together nicely in a mosaic.

Pens
We provide Sakura's Pigma Micron 01 black pen for drawing Zentangle patterns on our tiles. This pen uses pigments instead of dyes (dyes are more susceptible to UV radiation and pollution) to draw its 0.25 mm width line. These pens are archival quality pens. When "permanence" is required of a pen, whether for marking ballots to last for hundreds of years, or by top cartoonists, Sakura Pigma is their choice. Their ink dries quickly to a neutral pH, is waterproof, chemical resistant, not affected by temperature and permanent on paper.
Most importantly, these pens are a pleasure to use.

Pencils and Sharpener
A soft pencil is ideal for drawing strings and for shading your tile. We supply two soft-leaded embossed pencils with your Zentangle Kit. To sharpen your pencil, we offer a finely-tooled magnesium sharpener.

Instruction Book and Companion DVD
Your Zentangle Kit includes an Instruction Book and a companion Mini-DVD (please note that mini-DVDs do not function in most slot feeding devices). Given Zentangle's non-verbal nature, we use words sparingly. Our DVD has no spoken words at all. People describe our DVD as "inspiring" and "not intimidating." These instructional tools are appropriate for all age groups, and when book and DVD are used together, for all language groups.
Zentangle Legend™ and Icosahedron
A Zentangle Legend™ is a Zentangle-sized card with 20 numbered and named Tangles. An icosahedron is a twenty-sided polyhedron die with numbers on each face. Excellent for stimulating creativity. Learn more here.
